If you love writing and reading short fiction, then be sure to check out Mash Stories, which is one of the hottest sites out there (it recently received a Webby Award).
Mash Stories holds a flash fiction writing competition every quarter. What makes Mash different from so many other writing competitions is that there’s NO entry fee AND you can opt to receive feedback on your submission. For anyone who’s entered a writing competition, you know how lonely the process is. You’re often left wondering “is anyone actually reading this?” Not so with Mash Stories.
Mash also has a lively community in general, complete with a blog and podcasts. I learned about Mash when one of my MFA colleagues approached me and asked if she could interview me. I agreed, had a great experience, and the Mash editor invited me back twice to write blog posts about my copywriting experience and how I achieve my daily word counts.
